STEEL GAZING SYSTEM ACCOUNTS FOR ONE-THIRD OF CONSUMER SALES

Steel window and door manufacturer Crittall Windows has announced that its W20 TE system now represents almost one-third of all consumer orders. This marks a significant shift in homeowner demand towards higher performing steel glazing that comes with a sought-after brand name.

The growth of W20 TE reflects a trend towards steel windows and doors that retain slender profiles associated with traditional Crittall designs, while meeting modern expectations for thermal efficiency and weather performance.

Developed as an evolution of the established W20 range, W20 TE delivers U-values of 1.4W/m²K, achieving compliance with Approved Document L while preserving refined sightlines. Dual weather seals provide robust protection against the elements, making the system suitable for exposed locations as well as urban settings. Manufactured from 100% recycled steel and galvanised for durability, W20 TE offers a life expectancy exceeding 60 years.

Its versatility has also contributed to rising demand. Available in bespoke sizes and configurations, and finished in any RAL or BS colour, W20 TE can be specified for period renovations, contemporary newbuilds and sensitive heritage projects. The inherent strength of steel allows for large glazed areas that maximise light without compromising structural integrity.

Russell Ager, Managing Director of Crittall Windows, said:

“The fact that W20 TE now accounts for 30% of our consumer sales demonstrates a clear change in priorities. Homeowners are investing in long-term quality. They want authentic steel windows with proven thermal performance, and W20 TE provides that balance without compromise.”

As more consumers look beyond short-term solutions, W20 TE continues to set the benchmark for residential steel glazing. www.crittall-windows.co.uk
