Global bathroom and wellness manufacturer, Jaquar Group, is strengthening its position in the UK specification market through expanded showroom investment, trade partnerships, and a focus on coordinated bathroom and wellness solutions.
Founded in 1960, Jaquar Group has grown into an international manufacturer with operations across over 55 countries. The group employs more than 12,000 people globally and has built its business around in-house manufacturing units in India and South Korea. Narayan Das Nair, Operational Head at Jaquar World, Birmingham, said: “We are a manufacturing brand with a legacy of 67 years in manufacturing.”
Jaquar Group’s manufacturing capability now extends beyond bathroom products into lighting, although the current UK focus remains firmly centred on the bathroom and wellness sectors.
Within bathrooms, Jaquar’s portfolio includes taps, showers, sanitaryware, basins, shower enclosures, bathtubs and a range of wellness products including steam rooms, saunas, whirlpool baths and hot tubs. Its ranges are available in a wide range of signature colours and finishes including Chrome, Bronze, Copper, Metallic, Gold, Black and Grey.
The business manufactures three distinct brands, each at a different price point:
• Artize: Luxury brand with award-winning designer collections produced through exclusive craftsmanship
• Jaquar: Premium brand providing coordinated, innovative bathroom solutions
• Essco: Value brand offering affordability and strong functionality.
Narayan said the company’s approach is based on offering complete, complementary bathroom solutions. He explained: “The core strength in our bathroom industry is that we are the largest manufacturer who can also provide wellness solutions.”
That breadth is reflected in Jaquar’s Birmingham showroom, where the business has created a space intended not only to display products, but also to demonstrate how they practically operate.
Unlike many bathroom showrooms, Jaquar has a number of displays that are fully operational, allowing customers, specifiers and developers to see wellness products, showers and smart sanitaryware functioning as they would in the home. This helps visitors better understand the practical differences between the products, particularly in areas such as wellness, where specification decisions may be influenced by experience as much as visual design.
EXPANDING IN THE UK
Jaquar’s first UK showroom in London opened in 2018, followed by a Leeds showroom in 2021. The Birmingham location adds a further layer to that network, combining showroom facilities with a trade counter and significant stockholding.
Narayan said: “The UK market represents a long-term growth opportunity for the business, with an increased focus on brand awareness, distribution and specification engagement.”
The route to market is deliberately structured around trade partnerships rather than direct retail sales. Jaquar works through merchant and distribution partners, while also engaging directly with architects, specifiers and developers on design support, product selection and technical queries. That structure is intended to maintain established supply chain relationships while giving project stakeholders direct access to technical product support where required.
COORDINATED DESIGN
A notable part of Jaquar’s specification proposition is its emphasis on coordinated design collections. Rather than treating each category as separate, the company has developed product families where brassware, showers, accessories, sanitaryware and, in some cases, wellness products are designed around consistent visual themes. This can help architects and designers specify cohesive bathroom schemes all from a single manufacturer, potentially simplifying coordination across projects where consistency of finish and detailing is important.
Product availability in the UK market is another area Jaquar is proud of, particularly given common concerns around international supply chains. The business currently holds stock at multiple UK locations including Birmingham and London, allowing for shorter lead times than some may expect from a global manufacturer. “Our lead time in the UK is 48 hours,” Narayan said.
For contractors and developers working to tight programmes, supply reliability remains a key consideration, particularly where bathroom packages form part of critical fit-out stages.
SUSTAINABILITY IN MANUFACTURING
The wider business also places emphasis on sustainability within its manufacturing operations. The company has invested significantly in solar power generation, water recycling and zero liquid discharge manufacturing processes as part of its environmental strategy.
The organisation’s global headquarters, along with all its facilities, generate 13.5+ MW solar power and help reduce over 18,500 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions annually. The organisation also recycles more than 100,000 kilolitres of water per annum.
With 11 manufacturing plants around the world, the company delivers 3.6 million bathrooms, 52.9 million bath fittings and 4.8 million sanitaryware products annually.
For specifiers, the breadth of Jaquar’s range, particularly within coordinated bathroom collections and wellness solutions, make it of interest across hospitality, residential and higher-specification commercial schemes, while its trade-led route to market aligns with the established supply chain structures familiar to the UK construction sector.
