The homeowner wanted the timeless character of traditional timber windows, but without the ongoing maintenance, repainting and limitations associated with wood. As the original timber alternative, The Residence Collection’s R9 system was selected for its ability to authentically replicate 19th Century timber designs, while delivering today’s standards in energy efficiency, longevity and performance.
Finished in Grained White, the R9 windows and French doors deliver a soft, heritage look that complements the property’s grandeur inside and out. The installation comprised 54 windows and four French doors, all manufactured using Timberweld and mechanical jointing for authentically butted joints and timber-like detailing. The flush sash exterior and elegant glass sightlines further reinforce the handcrafted aesthetic.
Each unit features 4-20-4 Tough Low E/Tough Low Iron glazing with Argon gas and 20mm Black Swiss spacers, offering outstanding clarity and thermal performance. The R9 system is capable of achieving AA+ energy ratings and U-values from 0.74 W/m²K with triple glazing and 1.2 W/m²K with double glazing, comfortably exceeding Building Regulations and ensuring long-term efficiency and comfort.
To further enhance the traditional period allure, the homeowner selected Regal Pear Drop Satin Silver handles for an authentic finishing touch. A weatherbar detail, unique to the R9 design, provides both visual character and time-served performance benefits. What’s more, 12mm antique lead detailing was incorporated into the bay windows at the rear to remain in keeping with conservation requirements.
