For more than 30 years Cheminvest, based in Litvinov, CZ, has specialised in project design, engineering and building construction. Cheminvest’s building used aged boilers, radiators and an inefficient air conditioning system, which services 1,200m2 , over two floors of a commercial building with 50 occupants. Cheminvest recognised that this dated, energy hungry system did not align with their business motto, ‘Build-It-Right’, and was keen to address the issue.
MHIAE Czech distributor CompleteCZ recommended installing two KXZ3 R32 VRF heat pump systems, with 10 FDT Cassette-type and 18 wall-mounted types. This system was designed to not only reduce their utility bills, but to improve energy efficiencies and enhance employee comfort.
MHIAE’s eSolution tool was used to design and commission the complete solution, allowing both parties to view the entire configuration and aided product selection during the concept design stage.
CompleteCZ retrofit two highly efficient KXZ3 units, which use the two-pipe heat pump technology and R32 refrigerant to achieve performance of SCoP 4.79 and SEER 9.07.
The designed system included 1x 73.5kW for the ground floor and 1x 80kW for the first floor, both using combination-type KXZ3, which delivers a higher cooling and heating capacity. The award-winning KXZ3 outdoor units were installed onto a brick substructure to offer stability, protection and good drainage, as well as easy access for future servicing and maintenance.
Due to the total refrigerant charge, combined with the room sizes, 48 leak detectors and 21 shut-off valves were also installed to ensure full compliance with IEC-60335-2-40. For spaces that required only one safety measure, the RLD-KIT-E leak detector is a compact, high-precision safety device designed to fully meet compliance requirements. It is designed for a 15-year lifespan with no recalibration or post-leak replacement required.
Where two safety measures were required, the shut-off valve was recommended, as this is designed to isolate refrigerant flow in the unlikely event of a leak. Due to the configuration of the system, the shut-off valves were installed to cover multiple zones.
To control the system across the different floors, CompleteCZ recommended 48 RC-EX3D controllers, which fully support integrated safety alarms and provide detailed error code reporting. These controllers can seamlessly interact with the RLD-KIT-E and behave as an additional safety alarm if required. These features make them suitable for installations requiring multiple alarm points, offering both end-user convenience and compliance in a single interface.
