PARTNERSHIP OFFERS WATER MANAGEMENT INNOVATION
Thomas Dudley has announced a partnership with eco-cistem, a solution in sustainable water management. The eco-cistem is a toilet cistern that uses grey condensate water – typically discarded from air conditioning units – to flush toilets, significantly reducing the demand for mains water.
The concept was initiated by the directors of G&H, a Yorkshire-based MEP building services company, in response to a client’s sustainability goals and the growing challenge of managing condensation in modern buildings.
G&H turned to Thomas Dudley to help bring the product to life and, during two years of close collaboration, the teams worked together to design, test and refine the eco-cistem. The result is a patented, twin-chamber cistern that prioritises grey water usage while maintaining high-performance flushing standards.
Early installations have demonstrated up to 64% savings in mains water consumption across commercial buildings. The eco-cistem is designed for concealed installation and is compatible with all major sanitaryware brands. It fits standard service voids and offers adjustable flush volumes to suit global requirements. The eco-cistem components have received WRAS approval, passed KIWA’s AB Air Gap test (Category 5), and qualify for BREEAM and LEED water efficiency credits. www.ecocistern.co.uk
