Sika has partnered with housebuilder Cala Homes to deliver the external render for 89 new homes in Stirlingshire, Scotland. SikaWall-580 Monorex GM UK, a one-coat through coloured render, has been specified to meet planning, aesthetic and functional requirements.
Weather resistant and breathable, the render provides a durable solution for the new development, which is in an area severely exposed to wind-driven rain. Manufactured in the UK and certified by the British Board of Agrément (BBA), Monorex GM helps to prevent moisture build up, reducing the risk of structural damage. To achieve the required aesthetic, the render is being applied in ‘natural white’ and ‘mouse grey’ with a medium scraped finish.
Euan Barclay, Sika’s Business Development Manager – Building Finishing, said: “We worked collaboratively with Cala’s design team to develop a comprehensive site specification. It was vital the render tied in with the scheme’s overall design as well as its rural surroundings. As Monorex GM is available in a variety of colours, Cala had the flexibility to select shades which complemented other exterior finishes, specifically the cladding and stonework that features on the new homes. The smooth finish was important to help fulfil both aesthetic and planning requirements.”
The Monorex GM is being applied by Glasgow-based contractors, SLK Roofing, using mechanical spray equipment.
Stuart Logan, Director of SLK Roofing, added: “Sika has developed a very detailed specification for our team and is providing ongoing guidance throughout the project. Their technical expertise and hands-on approach ensure critical installation factors are monitored, and our operatives are supported as needed.
“The ability to spray apply the Monorex GM offers significant advantages. Compared to manual methods, this process enables a faster and more consistent installation while reducing waste.
“Sika’s strong relationship with our distributor Hamilton & Brydie is also playing a vital role in the project’s smooth delivery. The streamlined procurement process is ensuring fast, reliable supply to site, helping us to avoid delays and stay on schedule.”
