The Lighthouse Charity has raised £270,000 for construction families during a high-profile fundraising and networking event at the Westminster Park Plaza.
More than 950 guests were present to see rugby presenter and commentator David Flatman, along with Ellie Roper, sports journalist and presenter. Guests enjoyed a gourmet three-course meal before a competitive auction, where lots included Gleneagle golf days, luxury sailing days, VIP boxes at Ascot and Monte Carlo race days, raising over £55,000 for the charity.
Top sporting celebrities then graced the stage, including Kadeena Cox, Paralympian world record holder and gold medallist in both athletics and cycling, who shared her struggles with mental and physical health in the lead up to and following the Paris 2024 Paralympics.
Next up was rugby legend Phil Vickery, who talked of the camaraderie within the team and some of the characters he’d encountered during his career.
Iconic footballer Stuart Pearce then shared his history working as a qualified electrician both before and even during the early years of his professional football career. He also offered insight into his illustrious career captaining Nottingham Forest under Brian Clough. The event finished with a rousing performance from ‘We Will Rock You,’ featuring artists from the top London show blasting out the greatest hits of Queen.
