The Arcadia Hydrodynamic Separator (HDS) from Advanced Drainage Systems (ADS) – a global leader in corrugated thermoplastic drainage pipes and a specialist in water management systems – is an essential SuDS component for stormwater sediment management, effectively removing total suspended solids (TSS) and other pollutants from stormwater runoff, helping to meet environmental requirements.
The patent-pending HDS provides superior sediment capture and long-term reliability and has measurably higher performance than other hydrodynamic separators, providing removal efficiencies at higher flow rates and within a smaller footprint. Arcadia’s inside-out serpentine flow path and sump design minimises turbulence within the sump area to prevent resuspension of captured material – a major advancement in stormwater treatment technology.
Arcadia is capable of conveying 100% of design peak flow, and also captures and retains a wide range of contaminants, including sediments, hydrocarbons, and debris. Independent third-party testing confirms it removes in excess of 80% of the suspended solids on an annual aggregate removal basis, and more than 50% of TSS.
Arcadia delivers separation in a single manhole design that preserves inlet-to-outlet invert levels. The unit features variable inlet and outlet angle options, which offers greater design flexibility, while an internal bypass enables inline installation where space is limited.
Arcadia is available in a number of sizes and capacities to accommodate a wide range of site conditions and flow rates. Units can be installed in standard precast catch pits ranging from 900mm to 3,000mm in diameter. All servicing is performed from the surface using standard vacuum trucks, eliminating the need for confined space entry and improving worker safety. ADS offers comprehensive technical support for design, installation and maintenance; as well as training and a CPD on below ground SuDS attenuation and treatment covering legislation, best practice and comparable systems. www.adspipe.co.uk
